Quality and Market Controls Directorate
It is the directorate of Quality and Market Control’s responsibility to ensure the abiding by the Industry and Trade Law, specifically the control of the basic and essential goods market.
This is achieved through the Ministry’s general policy which aims at activating the role of private sector in administrating the local markets, while preserving the organizational and controllership roles fro the Ministry, so as to guarantee the availability of a strategic stock of the basic goods that is sufficient for local consumption in all of the Kingdom’s governorates.
The Industry and Trade Law of 1998 was issued with the goal of designing the economic, industrial and commercial policies in Jordan. Its articles which deal with market control may be summarized as follows:
1- The identification of the basic goods as per a Prime Minister decision.
2- Ensuring the sale of goods as per publicized prices.
3- Checking available stock with wholesalers.
4- Monitoring the concealing of or refusing the sale of basic goods.
5- Monitoring sales, liquidation, and promotional prizes.
The General policy for Markets’ Control :
The Directorate of Quality & Market Control works towards enabling the private sector, both trade and industry, in a way so as to complement the Ministry’s policy aiming at freeing the goods and services markets, and organizing market procedures in an attempt to avoid private sector abuse of this freedom thus rending the policy useless to consumers.
The Directorate aims at activating this policy through the following:
• Establishing of Partner Committee with the private sector.
• Periodic meetings with businessmen from the private sector.
• Receiving complaints from consumers, and conducting investigations.
• Assigning inspectors to follow up on market observers’ performance.
• Morning and evening field visits covering the entire Kingdom.

The Directorate also aims at developing this policy in order to increase the private sector’s role in market control and that is through:
• Holding periodical seminars for the different economic sectors in order to increase their knowledge of the Industry & Trade Law.
• Publishing advertisements in daily newspapers explaining the publics’ role in market control.
• Promoting several important articles of the Industry & Trade Law which concern market control in television and radio.
• Preparation of periodic pamphlets and brochures that foster the notion of self control in the markets.
Division of Commercial Communications and Guidance :
The Directorate of Markets Audit is looking forward inventing a new division regarding to a new direction of liberalizing the markets of basic and superior goods.
Division tasks :
1- Executing a guidance programs and an awareness campaigns for commercial and industrial sectors by coordinating with commercial unions.
2- Preparing a guidance programs for Jordanian citizens and consumers.
3- Coordinating with the under forcing governmental institutes to execute and conduct a training sessions and guidance courses of consumer affairs and there eligible rights.
4- Revealing the activities of the markets auditing directorate.
5- having an elaborating look for a modern articles and studies that interested in markets and there affected mechanisms.
6- Working over a training courses and a guidance sessions for governorates to activate there efficiency
Division of Studies and Data Base:
The directorate of Markets audit has been inventing a new insider division to raise the level of efficiency and to be compatible with a new trend of markets liberalization
Division tasks :
1-Activating the advance alarm system.
2- Reactivating the system of ending stock and inventory observation.
3-working over the prices proceeding system which contains three levels of prices, global prices, retailers prices. And wholesalers prices
4- Executing an ending monthly reports and proposals interested in the sufficiency of ending stocks contains the followings:
• The Trends of prices in all of there levels.
• The growth rates of these prices.
• The future predictions of the ending stocks and the expectations of any future changes in prices' movements.
5- Constructing a full data base that interested in basic and superior goods.
6- Following up the new inventions of these computerized systems and data base regarding to a new events in markets.
7- Fully coordinating with outstanding governmental institutes to get the information that is needed in this construction.
